I have been raped or abused.

Pregnancy Care Center exists to offer Help and Hope.

Rape is not a sex crime, but a crime of violence. It is an act of power and control, in which the victim is humiliated, degraded, and left with feelings of shame, self-blame and anger. If you say “no” and the assault continues it is rape!

What to do if you are raped:  
1. SAFETY: go to a place you feel safe; friends, home  
2. MEDICAL: Seek medical attention immediately for possible internal injuries and STD treatment. Evidence collection is available at the Emergency Department.  
3. Don’t bathe, change clothes, urinate, drink or eat before evidence collection if possible.  
4. LEGAL: Contact law enforcement (reporting does not mean you must prosecute).  
5. Remember that it’s NOT your fault.

After you are safe and secure and have taken the steps necessary to ensure your welfare, contact Pregnancy Care Center.  Our offices are open to aid you in the areas of possible pregnancy.  We provide pregnancy tests, trained peer counseling and community resource referrals.  All our services are free and confidential.  We want to support you in any way we can.

Remember, it is not your fault.  No one has the right to intimidate or force you to have sex.   That is rape.
